I haven't tested this in Safari, but using AdBlock with Firefox for Hulu ads replaces the advertisement with an alert asking you to deactivate your AdBlock.

Also, I'm not positive on this, but I think the alert usually lasts for 30 seconds, instead of the usual 15 second commercials.

Safari sucks. We need an adblocker for firefox that blocks hulu ads.
