Zaphu Forum: Internet Censorship - A Digg “Bury Brigade” Case Study

  • FemaCamper · 2 years ago
Case in point: the bury brigade has already buried this article.

@FemaCamper - These people are diligent. I hope someone exposes the forces behind these brigades. In the meantime, I'm using StumbleUpon and Reddit instead. Thanks for commenting.

Ron Paul has stirred up the elitists. He wants to destroy their avenues for sucking the life and wealth from the middle class and they will not tolerate it. To follow the Constitution would destroy their corrupt power and they know it.

    Thanks!

    See you at Guantanamo!

This is ridiculous. For one, consider the sheer volume of Ron Paul articles submitted to Digg. If he had the same percent of front page articles as every other candidate, the front page would be flooded with him. Also, consider the volume of duplicate stories. Then consider the number of positive articles about Paul that hit the front page (nearly all of them) versus the number of negative stories about any other candidate (nearly all of them)...and you're complaining about Paul getting BURIED on Digg? Seriously, that's insane. Paul is all over Digg. But hey, I guess a lot of Paul fanatics (not to be confused with a Paul supporter) are so used to crying conspiracy and oppression that you're even doing so in one of the big bastions of his supporters.

    1. Digg is a social site. Quit whining your ass off. I don't hear you complaining about all the negative press that gets tossed up there about the right wing (not that there's any shortage of it, but it is a distinct bias of Digg's userbase). No, people only need to be tolerant members of a liberal democracy (even though we're a democratic republic, NOT a democracy) when you feel like people don't want to hear your point of view all the time. I think YOU need to get a life.

    2. Sounds reasonable enough for any article.

    3. Wow, be vigilant of privately-owned social networking sites! Yeah! This can't possibly be backlash by people who are sick and tired of hearing about Ron Paul fellatio! Nobody is being paid for their services, you loon. It just galls you to think that people don't share your opinion, doesn't it? That, even when they have the same info as you, they still don't think that Paul is a good idea? Yeah, they must be paid off, because if they were free, independent thinkers like you, they'd think just like you and wouldn't get sick of the Ron Paul circle-jerks!

You are the one that needs to get a life here. You like Ron Paul? Great, but you and a lot of your buddies need to realize that not everyone feels the same way (and no, it's not a big conspiracy) and that some people are getting sick and tired of hearing about him.

@Noble - That is quite a vitriolic rebuke. Of course there are many possible reasons for the statistical anomalies that I presented here. Some of what I say is speculation although I find it interesting nonetheless. If nothing else, I've definitely succeeded in sparking spirited comments.
