Thanks for the info, Riley! We bought our abacus to deal with a very unique Maths issue and with your help our Ordeal is over.

However, our abacus is different to any we've seen so far. It has 15 columns with only one altobead but 5 hypobeads apiece.

The configuration is very handy and easily utilised thanks to your Guide.

We like it so much we are considering consolidating a collection of abaci ourselves.

@Amy-It sounds like your abacus looks a lot like the one I show above. The number of beads in each column is standard for a Chinese abacus, but the number of columns may differ from abacus to abacus. The one I show above has 13 columns, but I have others that have as few as 5. If you are trying to learn how to use the abacus to add and subtract, then hopefully you can follow my instructions above. Do you have any specific questions you'd like me to try and answer?

I have a Chinese abacus that was given to us years ago. It has two beads on top, separated by wood and five beads on bottom. 11 rows across. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.
