They mean nothing to me si I have to hold the curser over every icon to find out what it is. What I want is a list, in alphabetical order, of the applications in my dock. There are a few hacks (see below) to replace PathFinder for the Finder in the dock but not for only removing the Finder. Lovely, BUT ...&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Transparent Dock, in the old days, could make the Finder icon in the Dock (re)movable and change the dock background and triangles without a hack. I assume these are terminal commands, which, tragically, this great man has not updated for the Intel chip.
